I'd argue that Comey's bogus justification for leaking is immaterial. He confessed the act. There is no justification for it, bogus of not. He leaked privileged communication, and he never made an effort to air that concern through the proper channels.

The ramifications of this lie go straight to Comey's credibility, and we, the public, are the jurors weighing his testimony.

I noticed that NOBODY on the committee felt that the leak was a problem, and all of the member of the committee apprised Comey as honest, totally honest.

That is troubling to me.

It probably doesn’t make much difference what the committee said. There is probably enough hanky panky going on to get a FISA warrant for past conversations as it would fall under the umbrella of national security. I liked the tone of this today:

Kasowitz added: “We will leave it the appropriate authorities to determine whether this leak should be investigated along with all those others being investigated.”
