Excuse me/excusez moi Mister Canadian FM, there is a reason your countryman is only the Deputy Commander NORAD. Canada has been a client state of the United States ever since you got an independent government from Britain one hundred and fifty years ago. And that would never have happened with out the United States of America leading the way. Take that and own it fool!
Yeah, I did not get the link between defense spending and doing more on climate...
They’d probably take southern Ontario with no issue, but once you went to Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and especially Alberta, there’s not an army on the planet that would win that fight.
I’m sure the reason they are talking about boosting the military here is because they are afraid of the west. We are pissed. We are beyond fed up. We are armed.
As recently as Afghanistan, the delta commander told pentagon he always wanted to deploy with the PPCLI.
In Korea, the battle of Kapyong, the Patricia’s held the line on their own 224 men vs 10,000.
The list goes on, but I’m sure you knew this already.
I’m a vet, and it pisses me off when some know nothing American spouts off on things they know nothing of.
I’m not referring to you, was another poster.
“Canadas foreign minister said Tuesday that the country must spend more on its military now that the U.S. is questioning its role of global leadership. Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland told Parliament that relying on the the U.S. security umbrella would make us a client state.”
Two rather obvious points. 1. Just because the US has exited from a symbolic feel good treaty on CO2 emmisions does not mean the US is backing away from global leadership. 2. Canada has been relying on the US security umbrella since WWII and probably much longer. Have they yet become a “client state” of the US?
More freeloaders crawling from beneath their rocks. There is no reason why U.S. taxpayers should be burdened with the defense costs of advanced western countries.
