The British are like the wife with the beaten wife syndrome. All they do is curl up in their fetal position and let themselves get the resistance kicked out of them. The U.K. is becoming a population of immigrants:

While we wring our hands over whatever basic device the Iranians can build to make sure they don’t suffer Saddam’s fate, Royal Navy Captain Mohammed Salami Baloney will be taking his Trident sub on a routine Atlantic patrol with 96 thermonuclear weapons of the highest quality and accuracy.
A moslem will be handed a turnkey system. Not a few bombs in an unproven middle eastern missile system, but a modern submarine that could devastate the USA and is a very credible first strike weapon.
Even worse, when the moslem isn’t just the mayor of London, but is the prime minister, the defense and intel chief, etc. Four of those subs could be on atlantic patrol.
Then we really will have a special relationship.
