I will take a leap and believe that 50% of all claims for government entitlements are fraud. It feeds an entire industry of bribe-takers and bottom-feeders.

I have several neighbors on SSDI that are perfectly healthy. It's the new welfare. I think all SSDI recipients should be audited, as well as the doctors and lawyers who "help" them qualify.

It’s the new welfare.

Recall, that as part of both the ‘stimulus’, and Obamacare, that the Obama Administration was offering essentially bounties to states to sign the long-term unemployed up for disability. Two years, and we had an increase in the disabled from 7 million to a bit over 11 million.

I applied for my Social Security (retirement) online just after I turned 62. At the time I was working for FedGov although I had gotten hurt at work and was on Federal Workrs comp. I would soon retire from there and wanted nothing to do with Fed Workers Comp. Twenty minutes after I complete the app for my SS retirement the phone rings. It was the local Social Security office wanting to know why I didn’t request SS disability instead of retirement. I told them I only want what I earned and was not interested in the dole. She was amazed, yet said I had to sign off on the disability before they would process my retirement request. And they wonder why we’re broke?
