You have worked in an environment where you would see a concentration of the legitimately disabled.

Your run of the mill Freeper is out in the general population and probably has a better sense of the legitimate to fraudulent ratio.

And he doesn’t necessarily need to flee to another country. Lots of remote places here to blend in anonymously.

I remember reading of a convicted murderer who lived 40+ years in a remote part of Alaska. Yet another blended in with the scenery out in West Texas.

Yes,I've seen a lot of legitimate disability *and* a lot of fraudulent stuff,as I noted above.

Cancer...cardiac disorders...lung....kidney....liver....brain.Amputations...blindness....deafness...legitimate injuries suffered in accidents.Just a partial list of things that you should be thankful haven't befallen you.

And then there's Schizophrenia...a real disorder...a *brain* disorder (as confirmed by CT scans,PET scans, autopsies).

It’s the new welfare.

Recall, that as part of both the ‘stimulus’, and Obamacare, that the Obama Administration was offering essentially bounties to states to sign the long-term unemployed up for disability. Two years, and we had an increase in the disabled from 7 million to a bit over 11 million.

And BTW...my doubts regarding a claim that 50% of disability applications are fraudulent are based on a *nationwide* picture. It seems possible to me that rates in certain areas (including, perhaps, eastern Kentucky) are 50%...if not higher.

I applied for my Social Security (retirement) online just after I turned 62. At the time I was working for FedGov although I had gotten hurt at work and was on Federal Workrs comp. I would soon retire from there and wanted nothing to do with Fed Workers Comp. Twenty minutes after I complete the app for my SS retirement the phone rings. It was the local Social Security office wanting to know why I didn’t request SS disability instead of retirement. I told them I only want what I earned and was not interested in the dole. She was amazed, yet said I had to sign off on the disability before they would process my retirement request. And they wonder why we’re broke?

"An FBI agent testified at the hearing that some of Conn's ex-employees told investigators Conn indicated he would flee if necessary to avoid prosecution. Potential destinations included Cuba and Ecuador, they indicated...

"Ruling in favor of his release, Wier noted Conn's lifelong ties to eastern Kentucky and the absence of recent evidence suggesting he would be tempted to flee. The judge said Conn has hired multiple attorneys, signaling his desire to stay and fight the charges."

"Hey, Your Honor, man!"

Remember the more claims and clients the more justification and security of the Social Security and welfare “workers”.

I was on SS Disability for around 10 years. I got myself healthy, and went back to work part time and about three years after that went full time.

I’ve spoken with several individuals in the social services field and that all told me that I was the first person that they had ever met that got off disability.
