My bet is that the college campus circuit will rescue her in the fall with lots of gigs at $30K or more each stop. These campus slush funds have plenty for the “left” kinds of speakers and entertainers. She will give the “Leftard Whine Tour” trying to make funnies about her war with President Trump and gullible young libs will lap it up.
Kathy Griffin’s career is effectively over. Standup comedy is very tough. She’ll continue to get booked by comedy clubs and colleges, but those pay poorly. The real money is in hotels and casinos and television. Those venues are corporate and very sensitive to public opinion. When Al Franken, after initially defending Griffin, announced she was NOT welcome to appear with him at his next book promotion, it signaled Griffin truly had gone too far. She is through. Oh, she won’t disappear...but she won’t be making any real money. And that, folks, is all that matters to her.
I think you’re right. She’ll be talking about how she’s a scrappy survivor in the big war against Trump. She’ll have a Vanity Fair article where they will make her out to be Joan of Arc, Rosa Parks, and Rosie the Riveter all rolled into one. Then she’ll do a round of talk shows where they tell how brave and courageous and edgy she is. Then she she’ll do the Potty-Mouth Rants Tour and her mojo will be back.
