I see it this way.
The liberals are dragging another country into their personal fight. They are humiliating and denigrating Russia, in order to cover their own sorry butts.
The type of person Putin is (ex kgb, all that stuff) is irrelevant. Putin is the leader of Russia and has their reputation to consider. The liberals are not thinking straight if they believe Russia will be their pasty much longer.
