Congressional hearings are set up by written questions and then written answers submitted well before. That’s why ‘witnesses’ are so remarkably well-spoken. They’ve rehearsed from a known script. Not much straying from the script is allowed, and negotiations ensure nobody looks too bad unless they make their own gaffe.
Amazing how much kabuki theater the American people have to put up with.
