Trump cannot negate a treaty ratified by the Senate no matter how much he’d like to.

USA is not some two-bit country where Supreme Leader can just decree that we are now subject to some international treaty or contract on his say-so or quit a treaty because he does not like it.

If he wants out he has to undo the treaty with a 2/3 Senate vote and all the debate that entails.

lol

“Trump cannot negate a treaty ratified by the Senate no matter how much he’d like to.”

Obama never had the Paris Accord ratified by the Senate. It was installed by his Executive Order. Trump can do what he wants. The Paris accord is poor law and must be dumped.

What treaty is that? The Paris Accord has not been presented to Congress.

The Paris climate deal was never submitted to be ratified by the Senate. It was never ratified, so what you wrote doesn’t apply to this particular deal.

I don’t know if there are any other contracts between our goverment and other countries or other businesses related to the deal. If so, then they presumeably would be adjudicated under contract law, if Trump goes ahead and pulls out. Any such contracts likely have termination terms or standards which would apply if the parties don’t abide by said contracts.

which session did the Senate ratify this agreement for obama?

excerpt

White House senior adviser Brian Deese said the president has the legal authority to ratify the accord without the two-thirds Senate vote required for treaties. He said the pact negotiated by 195 countries in December is merely an “executive agreement.”

My post was a little sarcastic. Who was it who signed the “agreement” all on his own without Senate discussion or concurrence? That person would be the one treating USA like a banana dictatorship with him as Fearless Leader.

My lol was maybe too subtle and an /s would have been ore appropriate.

What’s not being discussed in State Run Media is the fact that the Paris “accord”, Kyoto “treaty”, Copenhagen “agreement” and so forth are NOT treaties and USA is not bound by them even if Supreme Leader personally signed them with Al Gore’s own Bic.
