Frederick Douglass High School

I’ve read how Frederick Douglass basically “stole” his education by copying out his master’s son’s exercise books in the attic while everyone else was asleep. He refused to be illiterate. I wonder if the students at Frederick Douglass High School have any idea what he went through to learn.

One advantage of his education is that he is much easier to read than most 19th century authors. If you have not read his Autobiography give it a whirl. It is a shame that so many Americans who happen to be black reject what education has to offer them.
