The Pope’s native language isn’t Italian. It’s some kind of South American Spanish if I’m not mistaken.
True but I’m guessing all Popes know how to speak Italian. To rise in the Church you have to spend a lot of time in Rome. Italian is not Melania’s first or best language either but she can and does speak it.
There are a lot of Italian enclaves in South American countries. This pope from Argentina could speak it.
