5 Minute video of flying hover board.
The enviros won’t be happy with it burning kerosene.
I don’t think it’s as easy to drive as a car.
Reminds me of the green goblin’s hover board. It would be pure marketing genius to make it look like it.
I think you have to be in SEAL shape to fly the thing.
Why isn't it powering ultralights ?
Wow.
It probably has the same or similar gyroscopic balancing mechanism that a Segway has, otherwise he’d have taken a tumble into the lake leaning forward for those speed runs.
I don’t think I’d want one of those flying over MY head. Look at the down wash on the water. In order to lift 200 lbs, you need to generate 200 lbs of lift by accelerating air down. That is a LOT of high-speed air.
Looks more practical than the hydrogen peroxide fueled rocket pack from the 1960s that is still demoed today, and it’s smaller than the Martin Jetpack, but between the noise, down wash, and hazards of flying into power lines or flipping it and auggering in, no, it is not the next commuter.
Whoever is the first to die from one of these things will own the company after the lawsuit is settled.
I think there’s a good reason this kind is only shown flying over water...softer crashing.
Who needs a deer stand now?
Imagine the overwhelming force you could have with 30 or 40 of these with trained heavily armed men operating them.
This is a force multiplier. I hope the nerds in the DOD are way ahead of this childs toy.
I wonder how it works upside down? Prolly as good as a helicopter.
Skeptical.
I think that is correct. Franky Zapata is an athlete.
But this is the prototype.
The first airplane was really for very adventurous people, many of whom died.
This could be a new industry if they make them fool proof. But in its easiest form it will require something akin to a pilot’s license. But - so what?
I can see, especially with the jet ski race, that the propulsion is sufficient for him to lean forward and be more aerodynamic, but the "stop" is a balancing act, IMO.
Looks like he had a parachute on his back too. Lots to go wrong, Maintenance time is mainly dependent on altitude.
One speck of dust on a chip and he’d be nothing but a greasy spot.
Didn’t know if you were being serious or not but this is his latest model and it is not water driven. The pack on his back is fuel
On his back is the fuel tank not a parachute
That’s the same way a Segway works, lean forward to go forward, lean further forward to go forward faster, the same for stopping. Here’s a video of an offroad Segway “safari” here in NC on the northern OBX, watch how they control them, it’s the same:
And I thought falling off a regular skateboard hurt.
