I certainly see the US falling apart into tribalism. Not even “subcultures” but separatist cultures with disdain for the others (not necessarily supremacist).

Look up the eligible voter turnout %s for the last 100 years for presidential elections, off year congressional elections, and state and local elections.
The single biggest tribe might be those that just don’t care about any political philosophy enough to deign to vote about it one way or the other. The point being that before there is some sort of armed conflict or sustained civil unrest I would think that more would first exercise their political options.
