However, the article proves my point. The progressives accepted this as true and published it. It is totally believable and plausible as a current thinking leftist feminist paper.

It's actually worse than you at first thought. The fake article was accepted for publication after the pompous pseudo intellectuals asked for revisions, which means they pretended to make sense of it but were so arrogant they insisted on improvements!! As if to prove they not only understood it but were a wee bit smarter still.
