I don’t agree with the coddling of Saudi Arabia; there is one thing I know, if they are not our allies, then they will be Russia’s or China’s allies. So, it is a bit of a pick your poison type situation. This is in effect, geo-politics, better to arm them than fight their wars for them. We can never do that. Even in Syria and Iraq, we are largely advising vs. fighting on the front line.
The Saudis may not exactly be the Amish, but I would rather we side with them and their friends than with Iran, ISIS and other radical Islam factions.

Well, as an initial Cruz supporter, I came to fully support Trump on that dimension the most of all: “Different, not part of the Washington swamp”

I'm more focused on what the situation is TODAY, not decades ago. SA has (years ago) designated the MB as a terrorist organization, and they're working WITH us on dealing with ISIS, Iran, etc.
Obama's plan was to side with the most radical factions of Islam and try to create a regional caliphate run by radical fundamentalists... people who seek to rule Europe and eventually the USA.
I'll go with Trump's approach... America first... and do what we have to do to be civil with the likes of SA as long as it helps us stamp out the radicals who want to take over the world and kill us.
