I got the same message on Edge.

I got the message on three different platforms. I finally just ignored it and donated anyway.

We use the industry standard sha-1 encryption method and have been using it for 20 years with no problem. But now Google, in it’s infinite wisdom, has decided sha-1 is no longer good enough and has “deprecated” it, flagging all sha-1 certificates as “not secure” even if paid-up, still valid and still in force. Our sha-1 secure server continues to securely encrypt our donation transactions just as it always has.

But to satisfy google (and now firefox, et al) we have paid the ransom fee and purchased sha-256 security certificates. John will upgrade as soon as he gets everything else caught up.

Regardless of which one you use, you can
safely and securely donate to Free Republic.
