From what I can gather, the Hillary Campaign came up with the
Russia story ( from the hillary campaign book, I don't recall the title) the day after the defeat to delegitimize the Trump win with the story “the Russians stole the election” So far it seems that DNC IT staffer Seth Rich forwarded over 44,000 e-mails with about 17,000 attachments to wickileaks. Seth was shot in the back and killed just after he released the e-mails, but before wickileaks posted them. The democRATs are trying to blame the e-mail relaee on Trump collaboration with Russia. It seems it was DNC saffer Seath Rich who was a Bernie supporter and was upset that the DNC sabotaged Bernie so he released the DNC e-mails that showed what they did..

The whole "The Russians Hacked the DNC!" affair was cooked up by the Hillary campaign in concert with Trump's enemies in the intelligence community as a way for the media and the Democrats to distract the public from the embarrassing WikiLeaks e-mail disclosures during Hillary's election campaign of the DNC colluding with the media, their trashing of Bernie Sanders, etc.

There are were two actual leaks. The first happened when Hillary's campaign manager, John Podesta, responded to a 'change your password' phish email. He clicked on it and gave away his password. It was a trick that could have been done by a 14 year old. Podesta used the same password for his gmail, Twitter, Facebook, etc. No skills involved, anybody could have done it, and there is no evidence of elite 'Russian hackers' using sophisticated or deep techniques to infiltrate his laptop. Podesta was just an idiot.

Second, all of the alleged evidence of "Russian fingerprints" on the so-called hacked DNC servers comes from just one guy: Dmitry Alperovitch, the Russian ex-pat head of the shady security firm CrowdStrike, whom the DNC had paid to check their servers.

There is a flattering article on Dmitry in Esquire where Dmitry brags about how he 'discovered the Russian hackers' using his fancy counterhacker tools (basically a free advertisement for CrowdStrike). Keep in mind that:

• Nobody other than Dmitry has actually looked at the DNC servers. The DNC wouldn't let the FBI look (at them or anyone else). The servers has since been scrubbed and all the evidence is now gone.
   
• All the alluring codenames for the alleged Russian strike teams that appeared in the press reports - "Cozy Bear" and "Fancy Bear" - were in fact names made up Dmitry out of whole cloth. He admitted this in the Esquire article (see above).
   
• Dmitry has not released any actual forensic evidence to any third party security IT experts or to the FBI for verification of any of his claims.

Basically Dmitry was paid by the DNC to find what they wanted him to find, and he did.
