I watched some of this. Question is. Who would have “leaked” that Trump asked Comey if he was loyal? Trump would not have, so it had to be Comey.
In that case, I would believe that Trump knew Comey was “taping” him, but Comey didn’t know Trump was taping him.
Perhaps Comey told Trump he was loyal without Trump asking him and that was the tip to Trump that Comey was trying to set him up.
Comey started leaking to the New York Times this week and the tweet about the tapes was a warning from Trump to Comey.
Trump probably recorded the phone call in which Comey told Trump that he was not under investigation.
I read that Comey had talked about the loyalty thing to other officials who decided it was OK to leak anonymously after the firing. So presumably the leak is second hand at best and really may just be he said he said lore.
