There is a misconception about COS. Only subjects stated in the application can be discussed discussed for Amendments.

If Amendments are proposed, they still must go through the regular Amendment process, which is difficult to win.
The current applications are to impose fiscal restraints, term limits, and other limits on federal overreach.
All subjects liberals are especially fond of.

Founding fathers put the provision in Article V. The idea that states (as well as Congress) can propose Amendments doesn’t seem that far from original intent.

And yes, restoring the Senate to represent the states wouldn’t be all bad.
