My default stance has and will continue to be:
If it pisses off the left, it’s the right thing to do. If it enrages the left, it’s the right thing to refuse to do.

"...Nevertheless, what gripes me most about the issue is its nonsensical nature on both sides..." I regard that as a fairly asinine statement.

We need a Civil War museum to put all these monuments in. Charge admission. What to do with the money? What state does it get built in?

If Lee isn’t in the circle, then they’ll have to rename that.
If Jefferson Davis isn’t on Jefferson Davis Parkway, they’ll have to rename that.
Did they ever stop to think...........no, of course not, they’re Democrats...................

"If Jefferson Davis isnt on Jefferson Davis Parkway, theyll have to rename that." While deductive reasoning is not a Dimocrap strong point,I would be a little surprised if that was not the intent all along. The statue removal was just sticking their toes in the water.

Visited my grandmother in NOLA every Easter when I was a kid. I truly love the city, including it’s historical monuments, which added a layer of historical interest.
New Orleans is not what it was decades ago. I will always cherish those memories of gracious black people, perhaps there are some left. But I’ll never go back to find out. People I knew there have all moved out. You DO know why.

There has already been discussion of street renaming in New Orleans. It’s absolutely part of the plan.

Well, they’ll have find another name. Maybe Bobby Seale or Malcom X Parkway?

If they erase the vestiges of the Confederate States of America, we’ll soon have people in this country that won’t believe slavery ever existed. It doesn’t help when blacks toss around phrases like “400 years of slavery” when in fact it was legal in this country for less than 80 years.
The “replacement Americans” from Latin America and Asia could care less about the history of slavery in this country.

When is London going to rename Penny Lane (the same street mentioned in the cheerful Beatles song of the same name, it was named for a slave trader)?
