From the New York Times, a headline that President Trump would presumably prefer not to read: “Days Before Firing, Comey Asked for More Resources for Russia Inquiry.”
The DOJ flatly denies this:
Justice Department spokesperson Sarah Flores denies Comey asked Rosenstein for more resources. She called reporting to the contrary “100% false,” and told reporters she spoke directly with Rosenstein about the reports.

The money already was allocated after McCain passed the phony Russia story. Trump indicates he knew what Comey’s underlings were cooking up in that sarcastic comment thanking Comey for reassurances that the underlings were not doing what Trump knew they were doing! Trump was delayed in getting Comey fired by the Congress which refused to seat Sessions and this fellow Rosenstein.
Once Trump received good data from reliable underlings, he waited til Comey was far from his office, then fired him. One can imagine how satisfying this win was for the President. Like serving frogs legs to Romney and publishing the photo.
Someone better tell the AP, there running full bore with this falsehood.
