I think it is not that McCain is dumb; more that he is duplicitous and endlessly in league with those who would hurt Trump and, really, all patriotic Americans. He is the enemy.
I think McCain had a deal with the Obama Whitehouse to stop tea party organizations from getting there tax exempt status. his biggest fear is that if that an investigation will reveal that him and a small cabal of republicans have been getting fed information by the Obama white house about there political enemies.
