It may take “Gates’ Gold” plus pickings from Soros to bail out Venezuela one day soon. And forget funding the Border Wall with El Chapo’s confiscated monies. That may also be needed in a bailout.
No secret that in late 2011, “Hugo” repatriated 160T of Venezuelan gold from overseas banks. No recollection if this was all of Venezuela’s gold reserve. In January 2016, Maduro ordered the shipment of 48T of gold to Switzerland to pay Venezuelan debt. Back of the envelope math suggests Venezuela has in-country gold reserves of approximately 112T.
Chavez’s daughter, still living in the presidential palace and rumored to be the richest woman in Latin America and Maduro is but an upwardly mobile bus driver, who has the key to the vault.
