It sounds like the Russian pilot, Lt. Belenko, who defected to Japan with a MiG so the Americans could get a look at it. When he reached the States and was taken shopping in the DC area, he freaked out. He could NOT believe the abundance, and that there were no armed guards to prevent looting.

My uncle defected from Moscow in the 70s. When his relatives were finally permitted to visit the US in the late 80s, they were shocked to find grocery stores sold dog food. They said “you cannot be serious, in USSR the dogs are lucky to get the scraps left from the kitchen table...”

It is nice to see the Sen. Gardener and others are finally willing to call a spade a spade. Welcome to the Trump era...
