French voters are choosing their next president after an unpredictable campaign that has divided the country.
The second round contest pits centrist Emmanuel Macron, a 39-year-old former investment banker, against the far-right nationalist Marine Le Pen, 48.
The latest figures show voter turnout is sharply down on the past two presidential elections.

I believe that is the translation of, "Vichy".
Do those announcers look glum to you?
Why, no age of consent laws in France. That’s why it’s where Roman Polanski went for asylum.

SARCASM DEPT: Oh how eagerly the US media is hoping the French will elect their first woman president
Where is the photo in #25 from?
Thanks.
I think it is difficult for them since there is the emails leak they can’t legally talk about till after polls close.
Now that you mention it, it is a bit like watching CNN when Trump won.
France is on the brink already, so I can see why you would think Macrons election would mean the end of France. Even if Macon wins, however, Le Pen will have put in the biggest showing that the National Front has ever had. If she keeps moving up in this drastic a fashion, she really might win in future elections 5 or 10 years from now.
Maybe the time isnt just right for her yet. I only hope Macron doesnt pull a full Merkel in the meanwhile and totally throw open French borders to anyone who cares to walk in and stay. There may only be so much Le Pen can do even if she does eventually get in, but I’m still holding out a little hope for France.
Her words are appropriate for Americans too!
We will see, in just a few hours, how the idea of leaving the Socialist Party, where you have been a minister, and inventing your own “centerist Party” works out for this youngster Marcon.
We have heard endless coverage about the oddities of Le Pen and her background. HOWEVER, Marcon was taken out of school by his parents in his Junior Year in High School due to an attachment with a teacher 24 years his senior, Married with three kids.
Guess who he is married to now?
..........
Per the leaked emails he’s a bathhouse boy.
I don’t believe any exit polls or any press; we’ll see what the FINAL vote is later.
First, there is no evidence that anything illegal happened prior to him turning 18.
Second, french laws are different then ours so you do not know if any crime was close to being committed.
Third, it would have been 20 years ago that a crime may have happened.
If the French don’t care about this, why should we.
Sounds like he's an Obama/Hillary clone.
I pray for France. I love the people, culture and heritage. To see its demise is heartbreaking. It's surreal that a country is actually voting for its future and existence.
It’s worse than that. One of Macron’s stepsons is older than Macron. C’est la vie, France.
Yes, the simple fact is that any candidate we should be supporting in Europe is labeled by the media as “far right”. Angela Merkel for instance is considered “center right”, and we all know how that turned out.
Wifie had a daughter in Macron’s class.
His parents were appalled, he lied to spend weekends with her and that is why they removed him from the school. I haven’t seen video evidence but doesn’t sound like a healthy situation.
I think we need to care because France is already a hotbed for radical Islam and it can grow protected in France and gain strength to attack us.
