"Schools are taking over more and more of the rolls of parents."

THAT is the whole shooting match, especially when coupled with acquiescence on the part of the little whippers' parents. I've heard many "conservative" parents embracing this tenth plank in the Communist Manifesto ("Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.") because they think lots of kids will otherwise not get an education. Perhaps. But we survived for centuries without government schooling like it exists today. Furthermore, if these conservative parents are THAT WORRIED about other kids being neglected, there is this thing called charity....

I hate soft bread, whether it is white or brown. I want to bite into real bread, not a soft piece of clump

Look at any welfare schedule. You get more money for having more kids. The gov’t raises, feeds, etc., then reaps the new crop of voters for more government.

It’s what politicians mean when they say “investment”.

Thank you and congratulations! I was wondering when someone would christen me with the traditional hazing rite. Well done!

Exactly. PB & J or bologna sandwiches, an apple and maybe some chips in a brown paper bag.

I think we got small milk cartons at the cafeteria, or maybe I had to pay 40 cents or so for fresh, cold milk. It was a long time ago; don’t really remember. :)

How can a child know how-to make a sandwich if a parent doesn’t teach them? I mean cooking is HARD!

Yeah. Blame the schools. Blame the parents. Blame anyone but the precious little tyke herself. And then wonder why she becomes a fragile, perpetual child who can never take care of herself.

Children in today’s world are more like pets than anything else. No wonder so many of them grow up angry at the world, they don’t get the essential love and nurturing they need for a good life at home.

Let’s see now. My parents told me they used to bring lunch to school, if my dad didn’t go home (dad lived next to the school). My parents said they might have eaten 25 hot meals in schools.

>>If you won’t provide your child with food you should lose your child. <<

AMEN. However, those “parents” don’t see a child, they see a government check. Take away the child, take away the payment.

Thank you. It's ok. I get it. I lurked for many years so I've seen it...Everyone pays their dues. And, to be fair, lots of the opposition join FR in order to cause chaos. Trust no one until ya smoke 'em out.

That having been said, I've enjoyed reading many an old-timers' opuses (or is that opera?) and subsequent zottings. Go Viking kittens!

Besides, nobody actually countered my argument....

I’d also avoid words like “Old Timers” on your second or third post.

And as my father once famously repeated, “If you’re hungry enough, it all tastes good”.

Words of wisdom!

That was intended to be a term of respect, but understood. My apologies for any offense taken.
