The White House insisted Tuesday that the $1 trillion spending bill includes money for 40 miles of border fencing, as President Trump sought to shore up Republican voters by saying the deal also lays the groundwork for rebuilding the military.
The president said there is enough money to make a down payment on the border wall, and said a $15 billion boost in defense spending without having a dollar-for-dollar match in domestic spending has set a new standard that will benefit Republicans and the Pentagon.
This is what winning looks like, Mr. Trump said.
Republicans bristled after Democrats declared victory on the spending bill Monday, saying they had won every major fight by keeping money flowing to Planned Parenthood and sanctuary cities, boosting spending for the National Endowment for the Arts, bailing out Puerto Ricos troubled Medicaid system, expanding college aid for poor students and preserving the Environmental Protection Agencys budget.
We have more money now for the border than weve gotten in 10 years, said Mr. Trump. The Democrats didnt tell you that. They forgot.

One senior U.S. Border Patrol official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told CNN that its
crucial to be able to see through a border barrier. Im not calling it a wall because we are talking
about a fence that we can look through. Thats what we need.
Another senior U.S. Border Patrol official told CNN, I think fencing has worked for us in the past,
but you never want to have a barrier in place that will obstruct your vision, that prevents you from
seeing the other side of the border.

In his testimony, Kelly told lawmakers that the physical barrier may not necessarily be a concrete
wall. Border Patrol agents who serve along the 2,000-mile expanse have told the secretary they prefer
a barricade that enables them to see whats happening on the other side.
It was on a TV news show last night... when I saw it I thought ‘that fence leaves out pregnant women’... I don’t remember the show or the cable channel. If I see it again I’ll TIVO it and send you a link.
Didn’t find the one he mentioned but this was interesting.

There was a video linked in the bottom that said 18 seconds to cross the wall.
I understood his explanation on the positive aspects of that type of wall. Agents can see through it for criminal activity on the other side and no one is going to be cutting through that steel in a hurry. In truth there is NO WALL that can not be transversed on an unguarded border.
Trump always said that the underground tunneling would be detectable by instruments. He did not say a wall would go underground to block tunneling.
If some of these walls were carelessly built to be too low, they can be replaced with a higher wall, like all the other bad fencing.
Panoptican (all seeing)
Build a Wall with a path on top wide enough for a jazzed up golf cart to travel between ‘lookouts’... Illegals approaching WALL won’t know if any given ‘lookout’ is manned or not.
Later when technology catches up - monitor all ‘lookouts’ with AI ‘Ring’ type systems. It’ll save a bundle over salaries...

Panoptican (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panopticon) concepts reduced the need for expensive ‘guards’... the money to monitor see through fences would be much more costly in the long run.

I'll give President Trump the benefit of the doubt on this Continuing Resolution—having learned some of the details from the press briefing which OMB director Mulvaney led—and focus on the positive aspects of this outcome—of which there are many—instead of running around parroting Democrat spin.
The politician has never been born with whom I'll agree on everything. But there is nobody in government that I trust more than President Trump to protect the interests of the American People. He has earned the loyalty of his supporters in countless ways over the last 2 years.
I didn't slog through the entire election cycle last year—including going door-to-door canvassing here in South Florida—only to abandon the President whenever he happens to make a decision I don't agree with. That's not how loyalty works, and endless second-guessing isn't how governing works.
It's time to unite behind this President, trust his judgement, and put massive pressure on Congress to start implementing his agenda. The GOPe is holding up President Trump's agenda more than the Democrats, and they need to be called out on it...
“What Spinning looks like”
I can’t remember but on the campaign trail did he promise “to make a down payment on building a wall”? LOL
For 40 miles it might look like that. Maybe by 2020 we will have 200 miles done?
What they want and what we get are never the same. We’ve been down this same road before. Haven’t you? I’m tired of taking up for them. They always throw us under the bus.
With this budget approval he has:
1)Shown he has no problems working with RINOS like Ryan
2) Shows that he is willing to totally cave on demands from Democrats
3) Planned parenthood funding will continue
4) Has no serious plan to build a wall.
Amen. They can kma
Ask China how to build a wall. They did it and did it good. All without the use of modern tools and technology.
1) No defunding of Planned parenthood
2) No funding for the wall.
Apparenlty no new projects on the wall were funded. But money continues for projects under construction.
We’ll see if the hurricane fence replacement projects continue. Who knows but Trump needs to get his ducks
lined up to get the entire border project started from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. The section
along the Rio Grande in Texas is going to be the hardest to complete and take the longest to get all the ROW,
etc. imo.
Cool! Thanks.
