They got no planes for it, there would be little interest in taking it out. Basically, it is the Royal yacht of Thailand........
I was there on the beach and saw the race. What they don't show in this photo is much of the Thai Navy patrolling just outside of the actual race. The largest ship present was PC 526 Thai Muang, pictured below.
