I was employed by General Dynamics when GWB was elected. The day after the election GWB called the CEO’s of the nation’s bullets and bomb makers and said, “The inventory of bullets and bombs has been, in some cases, completely consumed. I am asking you to go to twenty-four hour shifts to make as much material as you can. We will discuss price when I take office on January twentieth.” The CEO sent this around to us. (The flavor was, OMG! I got a personal call from the President elect. There was no need to send it to everybody in my division as we weren’t affected.)

Accordingly, St. Marks Powder, wholly owned by GD, went to twenty-four hour operation. I later asked my boss if GWB had made good on his promise. I was told that he had. In the meantime, I was told that the US government had asked its allies for emergency shipments of rifle ammunition. Around the same time a recently released Army grunt who we had hired told me, “The men standing guard (at his base) went into town and purchased ammo for their guns as there was none to issue.” Non-replenishment of bullets and bombs (and spare parts) seems to be a common theme for Democrats since Carter.

Hope Pres. Trump (quietly) made the same calls. I’ve long believed the goal of the Obama machine was to deplete our military and get our elite forces killed in the process. Sounds insane, doesn’t it? But electing a man named Hussein after 9/11 seemed unthinkable to me, too.
