A slow-moving emergency is lapping at Californias shores climate-driven sea-level rise that experts now predict could elevate the water in coastal areas up to 10 feet in just 70 years, gobbling up beach front and overwhelming low-lying cities.
The speed with which polar ice is melting and glacier shelves are cracking off indicates to some scientists that once-unthinkable outer-range projections of sea rise may turn out to be too conservative. A knee-buckling new state-commissioned report warns that if nothing changes, Californias coastal waters will rise at a rate 30 to 40 times faster than in the last century.
The potential result: crippled economies, compromised public safety, submerged infrastructure, and a forced retreat from our iconic Pacific coast.
No state has done more than California to curb greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change and sea-level rise. But experts say that even if carbon reductions continue, residual warming of the ocean will continue unchecked, breeding surges that will impact the states coast and the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta.
A consensus of scientific research makes catastrophic projections that, in the worst case, will be reality by the end of this century

And Iceland would actually be covered in ice instead of being green as a meadow.
Just think of the benefits to California of having the coastal areas under water. All of LA, SF, San Jose, and Hollywood will be gone. The state will become a conservative bastion.
Has anyone actually seen any evidence that the ocean level, world-wide, has actually risen over the past two hundred years?
Now don’t go remembering things an environmentalist said two weeks ago.
Just think of all that water going into the cracks and lubricating the faults - lots of slippage, solving the CA problem.
The story basically asks you to believe that one quarter of all the Earth’s ice will melt, since if all ice including that in people’s fridges were to melt seal level would only rise 40 feet, unlike the melt from the Ice Cap which caused sea level to rice 300-400 feet.
But the surfing will be epic
My knees are not buckling.
Has anyone calculated the volume of water required to raise the sea level? Has to figure in the total surface area of all the connected seas and oceans in the world.
What volume of ice and snow has to melt to raise the level that much?
I don’t know the values. If I did I would be able to do the math.
What amazes me more than these zany predictions is that a lot people actually believe this BS....
And some day the Cascadia fault zone is going to rupture and generate 100’ tsunamis along the coast-more taxes more taxes we have to stop this. Oh the liberals are so entertaining now that they have discovered climate change in Geology 101,
“NATURAL EROSION. We will blame this too on the Jews.” JG
If this has ANY CREDIBILIY the water along every Coast line world wide would rise 10 feet.
Someone needs to think reality.
In addition polar ice caps are floating so why would the level rise if they melt. I doubt the melting glaciers alone, assuming they all melt at an alarmingly unscientific rate, could raise the ocean level that much. And i can make a computer model to prove it. And i am not a scientist like bill nye</s>
Somebody better let Al Gore know about this so he can sell his seaside mansion in California before its flooded.
The propaganda group that wrote this is a little known operation: https://calmatters.org/
The staff are a group of Left-ish recycleds from the LA Slimes, Penton and a few kids.
Would be interesting to know who they get their funding from. This article ran in Santa Cruz and San Jose on the day the “climate change” tantrums were going on, so it’s a coordinated propaganda piece.
There isn’t a single credible source for BS like a 10 foot mean sea level change in 100 years. More like a few inches. But they use words like “knee buckling” to conjure fear.
All part of the scam to impose a tax on breathing by the Rat filth party.
How many bad predictions do we have to go through until we stop listening to fools?
Pure lies.
