Every spring I avoid tractor supply. Mr. UpC has a passion for animals and the small chicks are so endearing. I love fresh eggs, but tending them during the winter months is tedious to say the least and like any of our animals, as they age, what is the merciful thing to do for them?
Our last flock we had got down to just three lonely hens and as winter approached we dreaded tending to them all winter, so a friend said to us,” I don’t think my wife wants any more hens, but she won’t be home Wednesday, so just throw yours over the fence with our flock. She will never know the difference.” So we did, knowing she was a very compassionate animal lover and as far as I know, she never knew.
