"We're going to go when we have the votes," Speaker Paul Ryan said Thursday when asked when the House will pass a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare. Lawmakers will not be constrained by any "artificial deadline," Ryan declared.
On March 24, when the Speaker pulled the GOP Obamacare bill before what would have been a sure defeat, he said, "We're going to be living with Obamacare for the foreseeable future."
But why? Republicans have 238 seats in the House. Repealing Obamacare will require 217 votes. Even with unanimous Democratic opposition, Republicans could lose 21 votes and still prevail on repeal. Why haven't they done it?
...
"It's not full repeal. I will be honest, it's not," Rep. Jim Jordan told Fox News on Wednesday. "But it's as good as we think we can get right now."
"We've given up on trying to get this bill repealed, basically," Rep. Louie Gohmert told Fox Business on Tuesday. "But we've been demanding at least let's repeal some of the provisions that we know will bring down rates."
Some Republicans remain optimistic, but in a much longer-term sense. "The process of removing a 2,300-page law with 20,000 pages of rules can't be done in one vote," says the member who estimated that 25 to 30 Republicans don't want to vote for repeal. "The process will take two years."
The Republican-controlled House and Senate both voted to repeal Obamacare in January 2016. In the House, 239 Republicans voted for repeal, while three voted against it and four did not vote. President Obama, of course, vetoed the bill. ...
“But the Freedom Caucus is the problem, not the namby-pamby Tuesday RINOs.”
Once again that is media BS that the Tuesday group is all to happy to enduge in. The Freedom Caucus simply wants an actual repeal not a Republican Obamacare, and they have already condeed far too many compromises to the buch of lying hypocrisy in the Tuesday group.
The fact is the Tuesday group and anyone else who wants Obamacare are lying hypocrisy they proved that not only in the last 3 elections when they ran against Obamacare but in 2015 when they voted.
They have NO Ground to stand upon, and they are scewed if vote against it now. We merely need to make their districts aware of how much of a lying hypocrisy they are, and they WILL lose in 2018 as Republicans stay home or primary them.
Because if they do change their vote from what it was in 2015 and what they campaigned on they will be worthless as politicians. No republican will have any reason to believe anything they say.
RINOs are Democrats who couldn’t otherwise get elected as Democrats so they run as Republicans.
I expect what they are afraid to lose is the money they get from the people who actually control them.
I think they like a good entitlement program to make people Dependant or Govt as much as the Dems. They have a key thing in common itDems and that s that they are the Govt not the People
“Allow insurance companies to sell policies to individuals based on what those individuals want or think they may need. If the policy doesnt cover broken bones then the policy holder will be out of pocket, and so be it.”
Except if you don’t get the expensive Government approved insurance you will be charged a gigantic penlity.
Inevitably this is where we are going under Obamacare as the industry collapses under its rules.
Which just means the economy will be destroyed by the cost of that penlity and the cost of medical services which cannot go down so long as there is a significant insurance industry presence willing & and able to pay extraordinary amounts.
Thus the balance is a large section of the population will be paying the penity and out of pocket and go bankrupt between the 2 costs. While the insurance industry will shrink to a small number of providers who will subsist upon the population that can afford their overpriced financial services.
There is the future balance, and it is not a very good balance as few if anyone will be happy with it. It all comes down to the individual mandate crushing any alternative medical financial service.
There !
Fixed it.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
"State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphases added]." Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
Drain the swamp! Drain the swamp!
Remember in November 18 !
Since Trump entered the 16 presidential race too late for patriots to make sure that there were state sovereignty-respecting candidates on the primary ballots, patriots need make sure that such candidates are on the 18 primary ballots so that they can be elected to support Trump in draining the unconstitutionally big federal government swamp.
Such a Congress will also be able to finish draining the swamp with respect to getting the remaining state sovereignty-ignoring, activist Supreme Court justices off of the bench.
In fact, if Justice Gorsuch turns out to be a liberal Trojan Horse then we will need 67 patriot senators to remove a House-impeached Gorsuch from office.
Noting that the primaries start in Iowa and New Hampshire in February 18, patriots need to challenge candidates for federal office in the following way.
While I Googled the primary information above concerning Iowa and New Hampshire, FReeper iowamark brought to my attention that the February primaries for these states apply only to presidential election years. And after doing some more scratching, since primary dates for most states for 2018 elections probably havent been uploaded at this time (March 14, 2017), FReepers will need to find out primary dates from sources and / or websites in their own states.
Patriots need to qualify candidates by asking them why the Founding States made the Constitutions Section 8 of Article I; to limit (cripple) the federal governments powers.
Patriots also need to find candidates that are knowledgeable of the Supreme Court's clarifications of the federal governments limited powers listed above.
The 50 RINO’s that do not want to repeal Obamacare are heeding the wishes of their Corporate Masters who want to get away from providing healthcare insurance for employees.
These RINO’s are not concerned about the voters in their district. These RINO’s only care about the money supplying their campaign warchests.
I think they like a good entitlement program to make people Dependant or Govt as much as the Dems. They have a key thing in common itDems and that s that they are the Govt not the People”
Yes, but only 25 to 50 RINO’s in the house and probably 5 more in the senate.
But theses people are already on the hook for their 2015 vote, and their campaign promises for the last 3 elections. What they are claiming as excuses is a lie, and the truth is if they vote against Repeal they WILL lose their job in 2018 as untrustworthy hypocrisy.
They have already made their bed with the conservatives Ryan simply needs to call them out for it.
“The 50 RINOs that do not want to repeal Obamacare are heeding the wishes of their Corporate Masters who want to get away from providing healthcare insurance for employees.”
I think your probably right in that they are being paid by corrupt industry to take theses positions. But it doesn’t matter, corrupt war chess wont save them in 2018 when they are exposed as lying scam artist it will only help condemn them more.
Hillary Clinton and the democrats had almost twice as much money as trump, but trump still won and if the election were held today dispute all the campaigning against trump he would win again by even larger margins.
The problem is any conservative, fit for the job, a T-partier or what after 10 years or so in DC devolves to where his constituency is no longer his home district or state but the Beltway. Most don’t even know it has happened to them!
Except if you dont get the expensive Government approved insurance you will be charged a gigantic penlity.
This is the point.
The Government wants Mandatory coverage?
Fine.
Let me buy a policy that I choose and is tailored to me.
Now, I’m covered.
If I fall ill to something NOT covered by my policy then I’m out of pocket or I’ll have found another way to pay those medical bills.
Many, perhaps nearly all by now, Republicans derive very comfortable indirect incomes from Obamacare and will lose those incomes if they vote against it or don’t replace it with something equally onerous.
“Let me buy a policy that I choose and is tailored to me.
Now, Im covered.
If I fall ill to something NOT covered by my policy then Im out of pocket or Ill have found another way to pay those medical bills.”
That is effective doping the mandate, particular if you allow people to become their own policy provider.
At which point the Government has essentially demanded that you certify you are going to take care your healthcare costs. AKA full circle, back to the natural state of things.
The problem is Democrats want you to do it their way lining the pockets of their friends and will say your taking things away from people if you simply stop demanding they have it.
They are not “wimping out!” They are defending their present and future incomes. If they let Obamacare go down their future consultancies and lucrative lobbying positions will evanesce.
The problem is Democrats want you to do it their way lining the pockets of their friends and will say your taking things away from people if you simply stop demanding they have it.
Well, if they are so confident in their Government solution they should welcome the competition.
“Many, perhaps nearly all by now, Republicans derive very comfortable indirect incomes from Obamacare and will lose those incomes if they vote against it or dont replace it with something equally onerous.”
Wrong, the vast majority of House republicans will vote for a straight repeal, only between 25 and 50 now CLAIM they wont vote for a straight repeal.
This is the so called Tuesday group of ‘moderate’ RINO’s.
The problem is theses RINO’s are all lying, they already voted for a straight repeal in 2015 and campaigned for such repeal for the last 3 elections.
If they voted against it now after winning the presidency, no republican will ever trust them again, and no democrat in their district will trust them for what they have already done.
The answer is simple, lay down the law and call them out for their hypocritical posturing. They can’t win this fight because of what they have already done and promised to do.
Nobody is ever going to believe they are anything more than a scam artist if they carry out their threat and vote against straight repeal after voting for it.
Byron finally figured it out. RINO’s want to keep ACA. Now I wonder how long til he figures out they are moving us toward single payer about 24 mos from now. Single payer is the replacement. Of course it won’t be called that. They will come up with some catchy name like National Free Choice Health System. Don’t shoot me I’m just the messenger. :-)
“Many, perhaps nearly all by now, Republicans derive very comfortable indirect incomes from Obamacare and will lose those incomes if they vote against it or dont replace it with something equally onerous.”
If they don’t let Obamacare get repealed they are not going to have a future income because nobody is going to believe they are anything more than hypocritical scam artist.
They already cross that bridge when they campaigned to repeal Obamacare, in 2010, 2012,2014, and 2016, to say nothing of when they actually voted to repeal Obamcare in 2015.
............when is somebody going to provide a LIST of who these 25-50 RINO’s are?
