I used to claim that I could drive anything from a unicycle to an aircraft carrier. Now a days I would be likely to hurt myself on a unicycle. My ship driving is rusty but I could probably do it without bending too much metal.
Captains hate it when you scratch the paint. They really get bent out of shape if you bend their ships out of shape. They're signed out for those things and there is no collision insurance.
The big thing to remember about collisions at sea, other than they will ruin your whole day, is that the Law of Gross Tonnage applies. That is, the ship with the greater gross tonnage wins.
