I can sympathize. I took a flight with my elderly mom who had to use the restroom so bad I truly believed she was at the point where she could no longer hold it. The flight attendants were unrelenting. My mom managed to hold it barely long enough before being given permission to use the restroom but she was in great discomfort.
When this occurs, there is trauma to the bladder. I presume and hope that there was no long-term damage.
I've held things on the long side, and have had issues for many hours in that "department".
Same happened to me. Old guy next to me tried to leave his seat to use the restroom. Was rebuked. So he sat back down and ended up urinating in the seat.
That was one smelly flight.
