Turkish tanks and howitzer launchers at the Turkish border with Afrin.

According to reports clashes have broken out between the Turkish army and Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in northwestern Syria’s autonomous Afrin region.

The local Hawar news agency reported that Turkish forces fired on and bombed the Firfirike village in Afrin’s Rajo district using howitzers and heavy artillery.

YPG fighters responded to the attacks and clashes continue according to reports.

A tweet by the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) has also confirmed clashes.

Turkish army presence on the Afrin border has been heightened recently with howitzers and armoured vehicles being brought to the area, Turkish media has reported.

Ankara has also built a wall on the border inside Syrian land with Turkish military presence leading to regular skirmishes between forces.

Several civilians have been killed in bombardments and by border guards, according to Kurdish media.

Turkish airstrikes killed at least 20 YPG members near northeastern Syria’s Mount Karachok on Tuesday.

It's clear that Erdogan the Islamist's Turkey thinks they can simply shell anyone in the neighboring countries they wish to. Whenever they like. For imaginary infractions on their rules.

Someone needs to re-chain the dog.

I’m not a Kurdish brother, but I so support the Syrian Kurds. Have developed a very strong friendship with some of them over the past 3 years, since Kobani.

From other perspective since the Gulf War. They certainly shielded Christians and our soldiers then.
