Twain, in his later years was asked for his opinion by newspaper reporters routinely and would answer them almost instantly with wit and wisdom. I wonder if there is a collection of all of his one liners out there someplace.
I was just going through some of his history in Elmira, NY - (a city where I was born - as was Jeanine Pirro and I believe (ugh) Brian Williams....but I will go back and look for a collection of Twain quotes. I love them.
I went to the Elmira pages looking for the manufacturer of the Norden bombsight as I had heard for years it was made in Elmira and sure enough, it was. It came to mind again when I was finishing up O’Reilly’s “Killing of the Rising Sun” - a great book!
