Turkish airstrikes on Tuesday morning targeted Kurdish positions in Syria and Iraq killing dozens of fighters and civilians according to first reports.
Fighter jets hit Kurdish Peoples Protection Units (YPG) positions in northeaster Syrias Derik city (Al-Malikiyah) and Kurdish Yazidi positions in northern Iraqs Shingal (Sinjar) at around 02:00am local time, according to reports.
Information gained by Kom News suggests at least eighteen YPG members were killed in an airstrike on the groups headquarters in Derik, which is on the border with Iraqs Kurdistan Region.
A radio station and villages were also hit, however the number of civilian casualties has not been confirmed.
Turkish warplanes also struck Voice of Rojava FM HQ in #Derik last night. The building has been demolished as a result of the airstrikes. pic.twitter.com/f2j8Keh2QW

5 Peshmerga killed
Rudaw has reported the death of five peshmerga fighters while nine have been injured in Shingal. According to media at least seven airstrikes targeted Yazidi Shingal Resistance Units (YBS) positions, with another striking a Peshmerga building nearby.
A Peshmerga commander has said the targeting of their building was not a mistake. We think the Turkish airstrike on a Peshmerga position is intentional, there were many Kurdistan flags on our building, he told local media.
One Yazidi civilian killed, one injured
In a statement, YBS commander Mazlum Sengali said a Yazidi civilian was killed and another civilian injured. Initially the statement had said the killed civilian was a YBS member.
The YBS is an all Yazidi group affiliated to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and trained to defend the area against the Islamic State (IS) group, which launched an assault on the region killing and kidnapping thousands in 2014.
In a statement published on its website, the Turkish Armed Forces said terrorist targets had been hit in northern Iraqs Shingal and northern Syrias Karachok with complete efficiency.
The YPG also published a statement on developments and confirmed that its headquarters had been targeted and some of its members killed, but did not give a figure.
Kom News sources have said the airstrikes could not have been conducted without the knowledge of international governments.
This will not end well for Turkey, the Middle East or anyone.
An attempt by Erdogan to save his IS.lamist buddies in Raqqa from extinction.
And an excuse to kill Kurds and Ezidi's. And it took place on the 102nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
Screw Turkish Islamist.
Turkey/Syria Ping
There is no love between the Kurds and the Turks. More to follow, I am sure. I expect to see unrest in the southern part of Turkey eventually.
No. It will not end well. Period.
I read the ending in the book. The good guys win. (Ain’t pretty getting there though)
I wonder how much of this Barzani has sanctioned (he recently met with both Erdogan and the Mullahs in Tehran and the subject in both cases was Kurdish groups Iran and Turkey are fighting). The Kurds fighting in northern Syria are not on good political terms with Barzani. I am told, in that vein, they keep the official Iraqi Kuridistan Pesh Merga out.
...."Like attracts like"......
absolutely
I read about it early this morning. Finally made fox
Turkish jets bomb US-backed forces in Iraq, Syria, US officials say
Lost 30 Kurds. Turkey needs to be roasted.
With Turkey as a NATO "ally", we, and NATO, don't need enemies.
agree, we don’t need enemies
I like the books that the good guys win.
Some times that is not how it works out.
You are told correctly. They are not at all alike.
Suspect you already know why too. smile.
Yes. you’re correct.
“Turkey needs to be roasted.”
I’d cheer that thought.
