Most history is an "affront" to someone as the Holly Bible is an affront to non-believers. You can't erase history just to please a few (for votes) when the history has been so convoluted as written by authors "historians" whose opinions and facts may differ depending on which side of the intersection he/she was taught. Would anyone erase a relative's history because that person was an embarrassment to their family? Believers in climate change can't erase tree rings that disprove their theory's.

Political correctness on parade again....

I know of an obelisk with the names of the fallen Union Soldiers....aka as a tribute to Southern marksmanship!

Well this will certainly boost NO’s rating as a cultured, cosmopolitan city. Haven’t stepped foot in the over-rated rat hole in over 20 years, and I live app 2 hours away.

And with this affront to racial dignity removed, NO’s black schoolchildren will immediately vault to the front ranks in academic achievement ....

It’s tough to justify the existence of the monument at Liberty Place.

It has nothing to do with the Civil War, but instead is a monument to the Democratic White League and their revolt against an integrated government.

Generally, I don’t like the removal of politically incorrect historical monuments, but if what he says is true — that this was a monument to a white supremacist riot against an integrated police force (with the white supremacists being Democrats, incidentally) — I don’t really mind this one being removed.

Mixed views on this. The anticipated removal of Confederate monuments is not a good idea. However if I am reading this right the monument they took down glorified a failed white supremacist revolt. That one needed to go and frankly it should have been done a long time ago.

Andrew Jackson, hero of the Battle of New Orleans.

Slave owner.

His statue and the whole of Jackson Square will have to go next.

And what about George Washington? Jefferson? Not sure if they have any monuments or schools in NOLA but they will have to go, too.

There are no secrets in this tech age so someone will find out who the company is doing this midnight work and they will be done as a company. When you have to wear masks, take the tags off your vehicles, hide behind swat teams and plastic, cover your company logos and wear bullet proof vests at 1am on a Monday morning, there might be a problem. There will be a problem when their identity comes out.

Louisiana, the state where nepotism never ceases. Mayor Mitch Landrieu is the son of Moon Landrieu, former Mayor of New Orleans and HUD Secretary under Carter, and brother to former US Senator Mary Landrieu of ObamaCare fame (Louisiana Purchase)!

As a Republican, I fully support removal of all Confederate monuments.

Taking a page from the Nazi Party playbook and its totalitarian quest of cultural cleansing, today the Democrat Socialist Party in New Orleans is removing four Confederate monuments from public view.

In this updated version from the 1930’s, American blacks residing on the Democrat Socialist plantation represent the new German victims, and the defenders of historical facts and Southern Heritage represent the new Jews.

In order to sanitize and erase cultural history to satisfy its “victims,” simply expropriate all of the structures, imagery and factual references connected to it. Liberal academic “historians” have already accomplished the latter.

The real problem is that most people are either too stupid or too illiterate to recognize what’s going on right under their noses. The South remains anathema to the Democrat Socialist Party, and they’re still trying to “Reconstruct” us.

Oh, and be sure to thank the “Educrats,” who are committed to teaching our children what they ideologically want them to believe, rather than what they factually need to know.

quote-Most history is an “affront” to someone as the Holly Bible is an affront to non-believers.

You mention the bible- The Scriptures have something to say about erecting ‘pillars’.
This nation has a big obelisk, in its capitol, that if God has His way, will fall.

watching a place like New Orleans, that has a history of voodoo, black magic and curses, tear down a ‘pillar’, is quite a prophetic statement.

if, or maybe ‘when’ the Washington Monument comes down some day, willingly or unwillingly, will people weep or rejoice?
depends on if they’ve read their bibles.
