The leader of the Catholic Church went off script to denounce the conditions refugees face after entering Europe. Pope Francis was leading a service in Rome for modern-day Christian martyrs when he made the comparison.
During a service on Tiber Island in central Rome on Saturday, Pope Francis made a comparison between refugee camps and Nazi concentration camps.
Pope Francis recalled meeting a refugee in a camp on the Greek island of Lesbos in 2016.
"I don't know if that man is still in Lesbos or if he has managed to go somewhere else, I don't know if he was able to leave that concentration camp, because many refugee camps are concentration camps due to overcrowding," he said.

What is it with this Pope? Never disliked the actions of any pope except for him.
Australia and New Zealand put immigrants from Austria-Hungary in concentration camps during World War I, even if they had become naturalized and/or wanted to fight for the Allies.
The pope is from Argentina, the country that became the Nazis’ “safe space” after the fall of the Third Reich.
