After leaving the presidency, Barack Obama has been spotted using his favorite iPad to take photos of his wife while on a David Geffen-owned megayacht in Tahiti. But this may be no ordinary iPad. A government watchdog speculates that he may have taken the Top Secret version out of the Oval Office, a big no-no.
That’s because this story is loaded with poor assumptions, such as an encrypted iPad (which is what it probably is) vs an iPad that has access to classified networks. The later (which is what they portray it as) is highly unlikely as classified networks cannot be accessed via wireless access points (WiFi).

You said “transmit classified materials”. I know classified networks don’t have Wi-Fi. Hillary and the Obama Administration both made it abundantly clear that they were willing to put classified information on unclassified networks.
The real point is 0 didn’t and doesn’t have the intellectual knowhow to do anything in his entire life but his enablers and comrades do, using him as a means to an end. Wrecking this country was a joint effort from the left and the Muslim in Chief was just a vehicle.
No telling how many teams like the Awan brothers or individuals like them are still dug in like chiggers to handle Executive branch IT after eight years of Obama and with people like Muzzie convert Brennan running the CIA.
I would guess that they would load the ipad with his briefing documents using a wired connection.

And a VPN connection is well within the normal capabilities of an iPad, so the “wireless” aspect is somewhat of a moot point (though I won’t argue it is all that secure).
Or cellular data? Guess no cell phones or smartphones in the Oval Office?
Classified Networks do not connect to the outside world. You can’t VPN into them. They don’t have wireless access points. An IPAD would not and would never be connected to a classified network, period even if they used a hardline connection.
Clinton’s emails were an unauthorized and unsecure connection to the State Department’s unclassified network. While the emails did contain classified material, the material was not native to the network. It was likely transferred from a classified network, stripped of it’s marking, and sent to her email.
The protocol would require that the secure communications room in the White House that gets information from DOD, State, CIA, and similar “secure “ sources is going to be set up so that no information goes into or out of that area by any means. Such an area will only have information leave in approved formats carrier by and to people with the proper security clearances.
So yes, no Blackberry in the secure area. That is what Hillary with Mills and Huma had violated so profoundly.
I guess I should elaborate that secure areas do have information coming in and going out, but that happens over totally secure and isolated systems. SIPRnet is one of these systems — see:
