Washington (CNN)US authorities have prepared charges to seek the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, US officials familiar with the matter tell CNN. The Justice Department investigation of Assange and WikiLeaks dates to at least 2010, when the site first gained wide attention for posting thousands of files stolen by the former US Army intelligence analyst now known as Chelsea Manning. Prosecutors have struggled with whether the First Amendment precluded the prosecution of Assange, but now believe they have found a way to move forward.

Why not BOTH? Why is only one option possible in your view?
If the U.S. gov't didn't IMPORT millions of Chinese spies, ISIS terrorists, MS-13 and other various illegal alien criminals, SPYING ON AMERICANS WOULDN'T BE NECESSARY!!!
There is a necessity defense. Sometimes the law can ensconce the immoral. All you are saying is that a robot is a robot.
They could start by prosecuting Clapper for perjuring himself to Congress. Unfortunately Trump seems to have zero interest in cleaning out the CIA, FBI, DIA and the rest. Nobody ever gets fired, let alone prosecuted.
(Sometimes called comparative harms.)
TRUMP NEEDS TO BE DESIGNATING THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD AS A TERRORIST ORG. THEY ARE DOING DAWA 24/7 AND CAUSING DAMAGE TO OUR 1A RIGHTS.
Maybe this is another Trump chess move. In exchange for immunity Assange could be negotiated into dumping everything. The US might then put Assange into witness protection. But the accusation gives Trump a place to start. As long as Assange is in that embassy the US can probably do nothing but try Assange in absentia.
yep
I was not that happy when they announced Pompeo in the first place.
I suspect Jared & Ivanka are pushing for the arrest from their social ties.

Assange is not a US citizen and is not subject to US law, nor did he commit a crime on US soil.
Those who authorized spyware my on US citizens should go to jail.”

amen...good post...
and lets all remember that CNN, IS A TURD RATED CABLE NEWS NETWORK ACCORDING TO CABLE RATINGS.
CNN didn’t say who told them, other than a reliable source??
IF Assange is brought to trial in the USA — that trial could reveal some very interesting things. Perhaps a deal is in the making.

I am surprised by this, though can see why a CIA type like Pompeo, new to the job & wanting to impress the troops, would ask Sessions to do this.
Why for the life of me they don’t go after Soros is a mystery.

2010.
Same year China rolled up our spy network and executed a bunch of our human assets.
