Disagreeing. I don’t want a sliding scale tuition. Students can go after scholarships if they want help. Otherwise, stay out of my wallet.

I would agree with you if all education was private and not secured by taxes.

As long as it is secured by taxes, then it - what the taxes help - should go where it is most needed as a government operation, which usually means where it is needed most.

So IF, and I say IF, we are dealing with a tax-supported education institution, and if we are talking about handing out “free tuition” then I’d simply rather see it go to where the student is academically qualified but most in need of the tuition assistance. At least THAT would not prejudice anyone due to their race or ethnicity.

When we no longer are already tax supporting such schools to start with, then I’ll agree with you.
