Report: Ivanka Trump & Jared Kushner Behind Push to Remove Bannon (but they buried the hatchet)

Report: Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner behind push to remove Steve Bannon from White House

The knives seem to be out for White House chief strategist Bannon after anonymous sources from the White House say the first daughter and her husband want him out.

President Trump, in a series of high-profile interviews, has publicly dissed his chief strategist by saying he's "a guy who works for me" and who didn't get "involved in my campaign until very late." This was right after Bannon was removed from the National Security Council's principals committee.

According to the New York Times, people close to the Trump family have said that Ivanka and Jared's push to remove Bannon is them "addressing what they view as an embarrassing string of failures that may damage her father personally, as well as the Trump family brand."

In the Times piece, authored by Peter Baker, Glenn Thrush and Maggie Haberman, Trump's view on how he runs the West Wing like a "family business" is detailed:

More openly than any president before him, Mr. Trump is running his West Wing like a family business, and as he has soured on Mr. Bannon, his combative chief strategist, he has turned to his daughter and son-in-law. Their ascendance has some conservative supporters fretting about the rising influence of the urbane young New Yorkers, as some moderates and liberals swallow concerns about nepotism in the hope that the couple will temper the temperamental president.

At the request of White House chief of staff Reince Priebus, Bannon and Kushner met and agreed to "bury the hatchet" over their differences recently, in a bid to stop infighting that had distracted from President Donald Trump's message.

Looking back, I have a hard time seeing much good in W’s term.

The really big things are ObamaCare and Border.......He is being shafted by both Houses on those issues and unless he takes Ryan and Mitch to the woodshed there will be hell to pay in the next election. I will happily eat my words if he accomplishes even one of them but I doubt he will.

I think you are underestimating him. He's learning right now, in the best of ways. This is a very complicated mess that he inherited, and he has to be able to navigate the house, the senate, their rules, and their make up. Having watched him for this year plus, one thing I know, is he will pull the best deal possible out of his hat. It's because of who he is.

I'm not going to delve into congressional rules, precedents, and the insane way this has to be done, but kindly admit, it's not as simple as "repealing" Obamacare, or our discussion will stop. You have to understand just how tough this landmine is to dig out.

Two things. Obamacare. Border.

He is going to make huge, and acceptable changes, meaning what is possible, along with taking the worst things from this health care mess. We are not going to go back to the beginning. That's impossible. We won't get a clean repeal, that's impossible. We will get something that will take health care out of Hell, will get the worst things out, will be better, will make strides towards a decent system, and will start the ball rolling. Trump said it will take several steps, along with executive orders. I happen to believe him. I also know we won't get anything close to pure, and so should you. Giving up on him because of that is, frankly, moronic.

Border. Good lord man, do you not realize how much better it is just because he is President? 70% less crossing already, bids and designs going up, demanding to put the wall in the budget, ICE doing their job, illegals being deported, sanctuary cities being defunded, liberals squealing. What more do you expect in 100 days? Particularly with the obstruction from the rats.

Okay, enough. Frankly, with the context just provided, you should eat your words already.

Of course it is, all those arcane rules you defer to are just that, arcane rules, they are not Constitutional amendments. We got ObamaCare by some pretty twisted rules and admittedly the intention was to make it very hard to undo.

They accomplished this by being ruthless. I said from the beginning that to undo all this mess would require a ruthless president, not a constitutionalist. Undo then restore, just like they did except they demand you restore constitutionally, won't work and they know it.

Okay, enough. Frankly, with the context just provided, you should eat your words already.

A health bill or any other bill that makes the situation worse is not a win and RyanCare made it worse. We will have to wait to see how bad the new version is but I don't expect any great improvement. You can get 95% of what you want and you and the people can still lose.

Actually there’s an interesting graph from a poll—those Republicans with an opinion of Bannon approve of him by almost a 5-1 margin.

A sure sign of ignorant intransigence.

I'm sorry, but there is no hope of a sane conversation with you on this subject.

Best of luck to you. I'm glad you're sense of "purity" is such small a percentage of conservatives.

A sure sign of ignorant intransigence.

We have gone from a Free Republic to a Socialist shit hole by getting 95% of what we want. It is the 5% we didn't want that is killing us.

Total BS.

You should go live in some Utopian canyon in Utah if you believe that.

Maybe you didn't believe Reagan when he warned us either?

... You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We'll preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we'll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness." ~Ronald Wilson Reagan

I loved Reagan.

You, on the other hand fake it by preening your "purity to principle". Which is anything but.

Reagan: The person who agrees with you 80 percent of the time is a friend and an ally - not a 20 percent traitor.

Your the one who thinks if you don't get One hundred per cent, then it's not right.

Go pound sand. Phony.

You are so naive as to be pitiful. Your enemy will only give you 80% if it doesn't matter to him. GOP on the other hand will sell the farm out from under you as long as they get something for it.

If you think we haven't lost most of our freedoms in the last 75 years then you have no clue what freedom is.

Today your children are being taught that they can be any sex they choose, or learning the joys of masturbation and body licking in pre-school. Target decided that perverts can go to any bathroom they choose and homosexuality is being openly promoted in your children's schools. That all happened with little 10% moves forward. Evil is evil whether 100% or 10% the result is always the same. More evil.

I'm pathetic?

That was a quote from Reagan, not me.

Go away, you're so effing stupid, you're not worth having a conversation with.

It's pretty clear you know nothing about Reagan, you're mostly an embarrassment to FR.

Don't bother answering, I won't even look. Your insignificance is an embarrassment to the board here.

If you are going to cheerlead, do it right.

You have no clue what this thread was even about.
