Thanks for the fact laden reply, reiterating part of the history I had posted.

When I was in college, the several different profs I had, who had graduated from Columbia, were completely non-political ( not a one of us had any idea what their political leanings were at all ), were some of the best teachers I have ever had, bar none ( this includes my grad school ones ), and their expertise, in the subjects they taught, was beyond reproach!

The Columbia profs, who were friends of my grandparents, were likewise extremely intelligent, erudite, well spoken, well mannered, and also amazingly kind to a little kiddo ( me ), when I was in their company.

Not a single one of these people EVER attempted to foist their political views on anyone.

Dewey was a weirdo and at Columbia long before I was born. He was the exception to the rule/the rest of the profs who once taught there and an object of ridicule to boot! He also taught at The U of C and while there, founded Lab ( the private day school that the Obama girls went to, when they lived in Chicago ), which was widely known, by the cognescenti, as the school for weirdos and nutcases since it opened.

LOL....sadly, re :HAMILTON", you're probably correct.

The radicals and MARXISTS, until the late 1960s, went to CITY COLLEGE ( though a few did go to NYU ); there was no CUNY until rather recently. ;^)

This article, heading this thread, is ab out the Muslim takeover of Columbia, which is also a newish wrinkle. IIRC, Edward Said, the Jew hating POS moron, was the first Muslim prof to teach at Columbia. He didn't start out being all that "influential/nuts, but as time went on....he became the spearhead of the Anti-Israel/anti-Jews at Columbia and many other were then brought in.

My father was a graduate of Queens College, NYC, which is now a part of the CUNY system.

Edward Said, the fake Palestinian, caught throwing rocks at Jews and then died, lol. His great admirer, Camille Paglia, ended up with egg on her face over that one - and I speak as an admirer of hers.

Queens, was once a really GOOD college...when your father went there; not now.

I too am a fan of Paglia's; however, she has been known to go off the rails, every now and again. I've some of her books and have been reading here stuff for many, many, many decades.

Said was a real POS!

When I ran a speaker night at my private club back in the late 90s, I invited Paglia to come. She spoke, for free, for two hours on movies and art. I was just looking at an autographed book of hers the other day.

Her forte is NOT politics despite the fact that she’s good on Hillary Clinton. She’s also a bit of an Arabist (thanks to her pal, Said) and has yet to come fully to terms with jihadism. Big mistake, Camille. 2001 was a long time ago!

When she write/talks about movies, art, and culture...she can’t be beat. She’s also pretty good on politics and “feminism” and how it has RUINED things, but once she goes off those topics ( especially her past banal writings on Madonna; though she has her number now ), she sort of loses it. :-(

columnbia and berkeley were the chief schools through which the Frankfurt school made their entrance into the USA.

the frankfurt school taught that western civilization needed to be destroyed from within in order to create a communist state. their methodology for doing so was critical theory. one of their acolites in secondary education for example was howard zinn.

the reason that communists and jihhadists marched together in the early days of the iraq war was that both wanted the destruction of western civilization. only communists wanted a communist state to replace it. the jihhadists wanted and islamic state to replace it.

this is the reason that columbia acceptd edward said when I was there. He was in favor of americas destruction as constituted as much as the communists in power. they didn’t quibble as to details of what came after.

I was at columbia when obama was there. his political views were shaped by his days at columbia.

I was originally replying to some uneducated, knuckle dragger who claimed that: COLUMBIA HAS ALWAYS BEEN A COMMIE SCHOOL. That is incorrect. So too is part of your post.

In '68, when the COLUMBIA RIOTS took place, it wasn't due to a predominance of lefty profs, but rather, because of damned RED DIAPER BABY SCUM students! Unlike you, I was alive, an adult, and living in Manhattan at that time and knows ALL about that. My assumptions ( well educated guess ), in '68, were all proven to be 100% true, years later, by David Horowitz and then, much later, by other books written by ex-Weathermen and/or SDSers.

It was jelly spined profs and the then president of Columbia, that allowed the SCUM to get away with what was done, back then.

And wee barry's political opinions were FORGED IN THE WOMB; he was raised/trained to be what he is, AT HOME, long, loooooooooooooooong before he ever got himself to Columbia and NYC!
