“In order to avoid any more angst or consternation around Supreme Court nominations, Trump could short circuit the entire discussion by getting Ruth Bader Ginsburg to retire now rather than trying to stick it out for four more years. And what would she get in return? A promise that the President would nominate the same guy Barack Obama tried to put on the court.”

Preposterous. Garland might—or might not—be marginally better than Ruth Buzzi Ginsburg, but even if she agreed to the arrangement, it would not “avoid any more angst or consternation around Supreme Court nominations.”

The Dims will fight every nominee who they don’t think is hard left with brass knuckles, while the Repulsicans will fight back with a plastic spatula.

really means, Republicans actually fighting for a conservative and not rolling over.

Garland is of the same leftist bent as the gang of four. He would be Ruth Buzzy for another couple of decades.
