Here are three ideas that will cost far less than what supervisors intend to give New York PR firm
On its agenda Tuesday, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors is proposing to spend more than $1 million for a New York PR firm to rebrand the county, telling citizens all the wonderful things that county government does.
The supervisors are paying far too much. Ill do the job for a tenth of the price. After brainstorming the matter, I have three ideas that you, dear readers, can choose from online. I promise my proposals will be more honest and memorable than anything from New York.
First, lets deal with the concept. If you need proof that county government has too much money, this is even more persuasive than the $355 sterling-silver badges the coroners office ordered, or the cadre of $200K-plus deputy county executives on the 11th floor.

The county doesnt need a new narrative, as the memo to the board suggests. It doesnt need to redefine its brand structure or articulate its message in a consistently impactful manner. All those words are just hot air from folks who want to pull down a million bucks.

The valley is a giant pothole.. Literally.
Progressives at WORK.. SORT of.
Which one of the Board members is related to the PR firm owner?
Why does a govt need “branding?” Its not like citizens have a choice in which govt brand to choose. They can move to another locality I suppose.....maybe one with better “branding.”
How can anyone mask the fact Santa Clara is part of California and there lies the problem. Too many years of espousing every radical idea that could dreamed up. The weirder sicker and immoral the better.

That badge thing pisses me off but deputies earning $200-$450 thousand dollars a year is unforgivable and unpardonable.
But, it’s all relative because they know their existence is only possible if they blow huge amounts of money, the public’s money, on even more lavish projects .
Imho, Fresno and everything east of the Sierra Nevada’s should succeed from CA/Sacramento.
I’m too old for the militia, but can provide logistics and intell.

My billion-dollar, Texas-based company wants to open a plant in California. We paid a consultancy firm big bucks to scout out locations. After three months and evaluating dozens of locations, they gave our Executive Board the last two finalists: Sonoma County and Santa Clara County (a clear tie).
The CEO wrinkles his nose and says, "Gee, I dunno... I feel as though I heard something recently about Sonoma County... Can't put my finger on it... Was it a report on t.v.?... Something bad, maybe... Think I heard something nice about Santa Clara, though... The Sheriff's Dept.... Such nice, shiney badges... So let's play it safe and go with Santa Clara County... Just have an indefinable feeling, mind you.
Santa Clara's one-million-dollar rebranding campaign just paid for itself.
Only problem: What if ALL of the other countries likewise invest $1 million in similar campaigns? The arms race never ends.

Another prime example of putting wishes and wants before fiduciary duty.
I agree. The Eastern Sierra region of California is more tied to rural Nevada than California (back in the 1850s and '60s it was believed to be in Nevada until the survey of 1864). Folks here shop in Carson City and Reno, not in big cities in California.
What a waste!
"Succeed - achieve the desired aim or result."
"Secede - withdraw formally from membership in a federal union, an alliance, or a political or religious organization.."
Just damn.
Thanks. Either I had a brain fart, or autocorrect.
Probably a brain fart.

Brain?
Brain?
I used to have one of those lying around somewhere?
(Thanks for providing this nit-picker an opportunity to harass an innocent Freeper!)
Yes, give do so much with your tax dollars. Like spending $1,000,000 to rebrand ourselves to show you what we do with your money...
Will you shop for ammo and gas?
Will CA put up border inspection?
Interesting question. I live only 20 miles from the Nevada border but the nearest gas station there is 110 miles away. Very rural here. Nevada gun stores along the border are already asking for your zip code when you buy ammo. I’m sure they won’t sell any to Californians after Jan. 1st of next year.
California already has agricultural inspection stations along the border, will they ask about ammo starting next year? I don’t know.
Santa Clara County has a budget of over $6.3 BILLION,. The Fed input to that budget is $1.3 BILLION. When Sessions cuts off their funds over SANCTUARY status. that million will look like a total waste.
Our city just adopted a new logo.
Three local marketing and graphics professionals volunteered some time . Worked with the city’s communications guy, and came up with three proposals. The city council picked one.
The new logo will be used on the new stationary and cards needed when the city moves into a permanent city hall from leased office space this Fall. They’re using up all the old stuff until then, not ordering new.
Total cost: Not quite =$0=
I think we might have bought the volunteers a couple lunches. And gave them some recognition.
This is how small sensible government works.
