New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who is also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, believes New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is lying about his role in an alleged memorabilia scandal.
Serving as a guest host on Friday's Boomer & Carton radio show for WFAN, Christie spoke about Manning's situation by calling him a "liar" and "he got caught," per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News.
Kaja Whitehouse and Bruce Golding of the New York Post reported Manning was involved in a scheme selling fake game-used memorabilia, with court documents showing the Giants quarterback sent an email to equipment manager Joe Skiba that read, "2 helmets that can pass as game used. That is it. Eli."
The Giants issued a statement through their attorneys denying the allegations made against Manning, noting the "unscrupulous memorabilia dealer and his counsel ... has been seeking to leverage a large payday."
So, will Eli be suspended 4 games like Brady? I bet nothing happens to him.
Also, I dont dislike Christie the way some here do. I hope he gets completely cleared in bridgegate.
I heard there is more to the story than this and that Eli's statement was taken totally out of context.........That would be a first../s
That was my thought Brady got nailed for an equipment violation that cannot be proven. The way the NFL handles game balls is flawed and lack of integrity.
This is a fraud scheme taking people’s money. College programs get death penalties for this stuff. Who was that Ohio State coach that got jammed up?
I believe he was already cleared in the bridge incident, wasn’t he?
“2 helmets that can pass as game used. That is it. Eli.”
************************************************************
I see nothing here to warrant suspicion in any way. I don’t collect this stuff but maybe a helmet with scuffs and gouges is worth more too fans then a shiny seemingly unused one. That said it is perfectly possible for a player to wear a helmet throughout an entire game and never have a mark on it.
Note that Manning did not say he wanted a helmet MADE to look game used but ones that will PASS as being game used in their look. Those are two entirely different things. Finally, without context it is impossible to construe the real meaning of these words.
AS for Christie, I am with you. I live in NJ and while not overly enthusiastic about him the fact is he is miles better than any Liberal Gov this State has ever had and no one who stood as a full blown Conservative could EVER get elected in this very, very deep blue State.
As for Bridgegate, there has never been a shred of evidence linking him to this so called scandal despite THREE investigations, two of them by Democrats.
Three investigations of this incident have found ZERO link between Christie and the incident. The Liberals in the NJ Congress are nonetheless still whining kike stuck pigs about how “HE knew or SHOULD have known about what was happening in his own Administration”
Like typical Liberals they make up a scandal and then manufacture “proof” to support their allegations. In NJ, a deep vlue State the liberal rags passing for newspapers are only too happy to carry the bs to the gullible public here in NJ.
That statement can be interpreted either way.
Christie is the best we could hope for here, and completely cleared in “Bridgegate”. Dems and their media are using it to smear him as though they’ll damage his re-election chances - he is term-limited from running again anyway.
I was glad to see a black Dem running for governor; the primary against the white guy anointed by the media should be fun.
yawn
“[T]here seems to have been an actual decline in rational thinking. The United States had become a place where entertainers and professional athletes were mistaken for people of importance. They were idolized and treated as leaders; their opinions were sought on everything and they took themselves just as seriouslyafter all, if an athlete is paid a million or more a year, he knows he is important ... so his opinions of foreign affairs and domestic policies must be important, too, even though he proves himself to be ignorant and subliterate every time he opens his mouth.”
Robert Heinlein
Don’t even mention Brady in the same sentence as Eli; Eli is the Brady Slayer. Go Giants! 18-1!
Governor Christie deserves more respect than you’re apparently willing to give him. Why the derogatory personal attacks?
Forget about so-called Bridgegate. CC is acquitted in all but the minds of the left who, by the way, never saw a Republican they didn’t want to fry.
Chris Christie is no buffoon.
Bridgegate has gone on longer that the Nuremberg war trials!
OK, but I won't forget about the Obama hug.
Chris Christie is no buffoon.
OK, then he's a balloon.
I agree with RH. I also think it’s girly for a man to want to own some athlete’s used helmet or wear an overpriced sweatshirt with another man’s name and number on it.
That is such horse crap. Wow traffic in NYC can you believe it?
Why on Earth would Christie ever be involved in such nonsense? Even if he was, is it a real scandal? What was the harm?
A traffic study or repair is always a legitimate excuse to disrupt traffic. Weather his aids employed it as a means to make a mayor look bad or the mayor simply looks like the Democrat jerk that he is is irrelevant. The state has the right to do as it will with the bridges and roads it controls.
Trump would have closed the bridges for inspection for a week, just to make a point and say FU to the a-hole mayor.
For the love of Christ! Bill Clinton forcibly rapes women and this is a scandal?!
True words
He hasn’t been
I would bet that he has more than one helmet at any given time. Maybe he tried out a few during pre-season and he didn't like the way they fit him, but they were still used. I give stuff away like that to Goodwill all the time. Kudos if some used helmets are worth some money to some people.
Christie has passed his 15 minutes of fame.
Americans have become walking billboards. They live vicariously through famous people and find their identity based on team and corporate brands.
