MSM and the left think that if they can invent a perception of disquiet within the administration and keep reporting backstabbing among aides that it will make the aides suspicious of each other and cause real backbiting and backstabbing.

I'm inclined to agree with you. The media is out to present the worse case scenarios within the Trump Administration. Their plan, along with the Dems is to denigrate, demean, and destroy Trump, any way they can. To do that, they have to push rumor and innuendo, create problems where they don't exist, embellish stories, in an attempt to plant the seeds of doubt in the minds of the people who voted for him, in hopes they will turn against him.

At least that's my take on it.

Looking at Steve Bannon I think he drinks a lot.
