There is no provision for secession, Therefore the US Constitution is silent on the subject so it is not unconstitutional for a state to secede.

There is no provision for secession, so the attempt to do so was unlawful. The 10th amendment would,cover it, at least before it died after the C.W. since it granted states the rights not covered by the first nine.
