You are trying too hard to miss the point.
Neocon is generally used to refer to foreign policy. It’s what we used to call “the Hawks”. People who use the word Neocon are usually libertarians who oppose most military actions. If you give them a forum, they will usually blame “Israel First” people as if Israel has anything to do with our foreign policy.
The reason they tend to be Truthers is that 9/11 was a justifiable reason for military action. The only way you could oppose it is IF 9/11 wasn’t a terrorist act.

Libertarians may well do that but they hardly get to redefine the language to suit themselves.

Those of us who have followed politics since before the term Neoconservative became part of the lexicon in 1973 certainly don’t have to accept a kook fringe faction hijacking a legitimate and useful term.
